More about Westport surfspot

General: There are several decent beachbreaks in the area, all of which are only surfable when small and clean. Most of this coast is privately owned, with sheer cliff, marine terraces and sandy pocket beaches. The first real spot north of Seaside Creek is called Blues Beach by locals, aka Chadbourne Gulch on maps. It's a pretty good beachbreak with plenty of room. Peaky tubes are the norm, with some mushy sections at higher tide; medium tide is best. It's got some juice, too, so don't be alarmed if you get spanked by a four-footer. This is where the bulk of northern Mendocino coast surfing is done, so be prepared to share. Tides: Medium Size: Shoulder high-overhead Wind: E, NE, SE Swell: W, WNW, SW Bottom: Mix of sand and rock. Paddling: Not too bad. Spot Rating: Kinda fun.
