Slow, crumbly, beginner-friendly waves.

General: A long, flat, pretty featureless sandy beach that stretches from the town to the Taw estuary. Not ideal for defined banks and consequently the waves here tend to be pretty short, fat and fickle. Water quality can be low. Tides: All tides. Size: Thigh to shoulder high. Wind: E, SE Swell: W Bottom: Sand Paddling: Hard work in anything but small waves. Spot Rating: Not a classic, not even a local classic - but can be fun and will be less crowded than better spots.

Popular with beginners.

Northam Burrows car park is right on the beachfront.

September - November and March - May work best.

Crowd Factor: Pretty quiet. Local Vibe: Chilled vibe, popular with longboarders.

Car park by the beach and plenty of facilities.

OK, can be nasty after heavy rains due to proximity to Taw.

Rips when big.
