Good beachbreak peaks up to double-overhead, useful rip along rocks at N end for paddling out. Prefers W swell as Ramsey Island blocks the SW.

General: This popular bay has a number of banks that work through the tides. At the north end of the bay is the Elevator, a good quality low tide righthander. through consistent, it is slightly blocked by Ramsey Island so picks up less swell than Freshwater West. Best on a pushing tide from low to mid, busy in the summer, quieter out of season. Tides: Low to mid. Size: Thigh high to overhead. Wind: E Swell: W/SW Bottom: Sand. Paddling: OK when smaller. Spot Rating: Quality, consistent beachie with good banks.

Beginners stick to middle of the beach which is more learner friendly.

Huge car park at northern end of bay.

Large pay carpark, camping, cafe and bogs behind the beach. Surf shop and schools in St Davids. Lifeguards in summer.

Works all year, best in September - February.

Crowd Factor: Busy in holiday season, can get crowded at northern end. Local Vibe: Chilled.

Beautiful bay popular with all kinds of surfcraft. Pay parking and camping by the beach.
