Windang Island surf guide

Surf: Big wave chargers gravitate to Windang Island in heavy NE swells and N winds. It hugs the rocky cliffs and demands skill and confidence to master the drop, barrel to muscular wall. Lower tides keep it off the rocks that you don't want to get a close inspection of. Environment: There's another big wave reef called Sharkies on the other side of the island which is at the Lake Illawarra entrance so look out for grey shapes. Warily Beach gets some good peaks and there are more heavy reef waves on the southern headland at Barrack Point.
