Wujiao Bay is located about 4km south of Dongshan town, right by the main harbor. It's a laid-back surf spot where you can find several decent peaks breaking on either side of a short jetty. This place can catch some good size swells during winter, especially with the NorthEast (NE) swells wrapping around the headland. The wind typically comes from the NE, which means it’s cross-shore, but that’s not too big of a deal for most surfers. In summer, it can also handle E to SE swells and typhoons, making it one of the more reliable spots in the area.
The surf at Wujiao Bay can handle swells from 1ft (0.3m) up to bigger days, especially with the NE swells, which really bring in some larger waves. You can catch both lefts and rights as the waves break over sandy bottoms. This spot caters to beginners, so it’s a good place to get some practice. If you're heading out, keep in mind that low, mid, and high tides all work here, but the best conditions often come with NW winds.
Be aware that there are some wood and iron poles sticking out on the inside, so keep an eye out for those while you’re out surfing. Kiteboarders also love the cross-shore winds here, so you might see a few zooming around as you enjoy your session.
