Overview
Alimini - La Nave is an A-frame reef sitting in the middle of the Alimini bay, named for the wrecked ship close to the peak. Breaking over a mix of rock ledge and sand, it serves up good-quality lefts and rights, with the occasional barrel on its day.
When It Works
This stretch of coast south of Brindisi is best exposed to north swell, and north (N) is the optimal direction here. It also draws swell arriving anywhere from north through east-northeast to southeast (N-ENE-SE), so there's a decent window to catch it. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 1.8 m / 6 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for east (E) offshore wind to clean things up, though the peak still breaks when it's onshore. It's surfable across low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.
Local Tips
The wave suits intermediate surfers, the water's clean, and you're unlikely to run into much of a crowd. Just keep an eye out for submerged wreckage near the peak.
Access
There's a surf shop nearby for local info, and parking is easy with free roadside spots. You'll find the break in the middle of the Alimini bay.
