Anse Trabaud surf guide

Anse Trabaud is located on the south shore of the island and offers a mix of surf experiences for those willing to explore. Accessing the spot might require some effort, as the road crosses private property and there’s a fee of $2.50 to enter. The beach has a scenic vibe that makes it a nice spot to chill, even if the waves can be a bit tricky at times.

The surfing here features a shorebreak on the left side of the beach, making it ideal for intermediate surfers. You can catch waves that favor a left direction but also find some right-handers. The spot can handle swell sizes starting from about 1 ft (0.3 m), with the optimal swell direction coming from the southeast. While there’s a reef outside, it’s known for being an exhausting paddle and doesn't often produce the best waves. The preferable wind direction is from the northwest, and it works well on low, mid, and high tides. However, do keep in mind that the beachbreaks here can close out quickly, which is why it may be more popular with bodyboarders looking for launch ramps.

Make sure to plan your session accordingly because it’s important to leave before the gates get locked. It can be a hassle if you find yourself stuck at the end of a fun day at the beach!
