Asa is a surf spot located 55 km south of Gothenburg, accessible by traveling west of town down Stennuden before reaching the Nasbokroks nature reserve. The area features a harbor breakwall that provides some shelter from the wind and allows for easy access to the water. While it can be hit or miss, when conditions are right, it can attract a decent number of surfers.
The surf breaks over a rock ledge, primarily offering right-handed waves. It works best with a strong S-SW wind and handles swell sizes of around 2ft (0.6 meters). The optimal swell direction is SW, but it can also handle swells coming from the south. The waves break well at low, mid, and even high tides, making this spot versatile in various conditions. However, itβs better suited for intermediate surfers who can navigate the rocky ledge and handle some power in the waves.
It's worth noting that the consistency of the surf at Asa is medium, and while it can provide fun sessions, it often tends to get crowded when the waves are on. The paddle out is typically from the harbor or off the jetty, which makes for easier access, especially when other spots are too busy or not working.
