More about Assateague surfspot

General: This is more of a beginner/longboard wave, breaking out on a bar with a trench near shore. When town is closing out, however, Assateague holds the size with outside peaks. With no main swell focus, it's easy to set off with your friends and find a wave of your own. Tides: Low to mid tide Size: Head high-overhead+ Wind: West Swell: S, SE, NE Bottom: Sand Paddling: Not bad but can be some work on bigger south swells. Spot Rating: Can get good when the sand/wind/swell come together.

Any and all levels

Easy, nice to have four-wheel drive and permit.

Storm dependent: tropical cyclones in the late summer and fall with frontal activity and nor'easters in the late fall and winter.

Crowd Factor: Plenty of room to spread out. Local Vibe: None.

No concerns.

None really.
