Beacons (Leucadia) surf guide
Surf: The peak in front of the bluff trail is the main spot; a good, lined-up left and shorter, mushier right. Has recently lost quality due to human-induced sand build-up on the beach as a money-wasting ploy to attract tourists. Best with W swells up to a foot or two overhead. Needs a lower tide with smaller swells, higher tide with larger swells. Caters to everyone. Gets very crowded. Sandbars at the middle of the beach lead up to Bamboos, a fun righthand reef/sandbar combo in front of the bamboo patch in the bluff, under the houses.
Directions: Park in the narrow-paved blufftop lot (free) along Neptune Avenue at its confluence with Leucadia Boulevard.
