Bullies is a surf spot known for its challenging waves and dramatic reef breaks. Located across the train tracks from the carpark, it's not a beginner-friendly area and is best suited for experienced surfers looking for a thrill. The break can deliver some heavy conditions, making it essential to know what you’re doing out there.
The waves at Bullies are mainly steep right-handers that break over an uneven reef, creating a tough drop followed by some tight tubes. The best swell direction is from the SouthWest, but it can also handle swells coming from the SouthEast. Bullies works best with swell sizes around 3ft (about 0.9 meters) and can definitely pack a punch, especially on low to mid tides. North winds are preferable to keep the waves clean and manageable, but be prepared for some serious action.
While it’s mostly for experts, you should also keep in mind that there are other peaks further down Boomer Beach toward Chiton, which can get heavy and hollow as well when conditions are right. If you’re planning to hit Bullies, make sure to be ready for a serious surfing session.
