Cabo Verde is a surf spot located near the Piura/Lambayeque border. This area is known for its beachbreak, which can be hit or miss. While it attracts some attention, it’s generally seen as average compared to more famous surf destinations. The waves here can get decent, especially when the conditions align, but don’t expect to find a crowd; you’re more likely to have the place to yourself.
The surf usually works best with a south-west swell, but swells from the south and north-west can also produce rideable waves. The spot can handle swell sizes starting from about 2 feet (0.6 meters) and can go up to head high on a good day. The waves break over sand, providing mostly left and right beach breaks. It’s best to surf during low, mid, or high tide, and if you can catch it with a north-east wind, that tends to be ideal.
While you’re out there, keep in mind that the W swell can be blocked by the nearby Lobos de Tierra island, which influences your chances of getting good waves. If you're looking for a more secluded experience without the typical surfer traffic, Cabo Verde might be a good pick.
