Cape St Martin surf guide

Cape St Martin is a surfing spot located just out on the point from Britannia Bay. It's a good place for surfers looking for a fun left wave and a bit of space. Compared to Elands Bay, you can expect less crowding here, which can make for a more enjoyable session. The waves usually need a decent swell to really get going, so be prepared for that.

The surf at Cape St Martin works best with swell coming from the SouthWest or West. It can handle swell sizes starting from 2 ft (about 0.6 meters), but be mindful that the waves can often be quite sectiony. The preferable wind direction is from the SouthEast, and it’s best to hit the water during low to mid tide. This spot is ideal for intermediate surfers who are comfortable riding lefts over a rocky ledge.

When considering the best time to surf, keep in mind that this spot often produces better waves when the swell is strong enough, so checking the forecast before you head out is a good idea. Enjoy your time at Cape St Martin!
