Capo Mannu surf guide

Capo Mannu is a popular surf spot located on the west coast of Sardinia, just a short drive from Oristano. This area is well-known among Mediterranean surfers, attracting riders looking for reliable waves. The long right pointbreak on the southwest side of the Capo Mannu peninsula is one of the main draws, making it a regular stop for surf enthusiasts. While it's often crowded, the landscape and surf experience here are well worth it.

The best conditions at Capo Mannu occur with a northwest swell, which means waves generally come from the northwest and west. The spot can handle swell sizes starting from about 2 feet (0.6 meters) and offers both left and right waves. The take-off is relatively easy, making it beginner-friendly, but the hallowed sections of the waves push it towards the intermediate level. It’s important to keep an eye on the tides, as the spot works well during low, mid, or even high tide. Just be cautious, as there are some sharp rocks to navigate when entering or exiting the water, and the currents can be powerful at times.

This spot features an uneven reef that creates fun, challenging waves. Surfing at Capo Mannu usually feels localized, meaning that the local surfers are quite aware of the break and often dominate the lineup. For optimal conditions, a northeast wind is preferred. If you’re heading there, you can expect decent consistency in the surf; just be prepared for a crowded lineup and keep an eye on the swell forecasts!
