Cidreira surf guide

Cidreira is a less developed resort town located in southern Brazil, featuring the southernmost pier in the country. The area gets quite crowded during the summer months, especially with tourists looking to enjoy the beach. The long pier creates a unique surf environment, offering peaks on both sides that often break further out on bigger days. It's a good spot for surfers of all levels, but be prepared for local surfers who are often out there making the most of the waves.

The surf at Cidreira works best with a south swell direction, although it can also handle swells coming from the east and south. The waves break over sand, and you can catch them at sizes starting from about 2 feet (0.6 meters). You’ll find both left and right breaks, which is nice for mixing things up. The ideal wind is from the northwest, and you can surf here during low, mid, and high tide, making it pretty flexible for your schedule. It’s generally a beginner-friendly spot, so it's a good place to practice and gain confidence in the water.

The pier does affect the longshore drift a bit, so it’s smart to be aware of the current while you’re out there. Locals and seasoned surfers often hit these waves during winter, when conditions can get better. While Cidreira might not blow you away, it offers a decent surf session, especially for those starting out or looking for some chill waves.
