More about Constantine surfspot

Swell magnet, beachbreak Constantine has peaks in the middle of the bay, lefts off the reef at the south end, rights off the point at the north end (quality depends on sand flow from river) and Booby's to the north has a good but fickle low tide right reef.

General: One of the best breaks in the region, low tide sees this crescent shaped bay open up into a half mile stretch of golden sand. At the northern end Booby's Bay has a low tide right hand reef break, while at the southern end of the beach there is a left hand reef breaking over rocks near the headland. In between, the consistent sandbars can produce some great peaks with long lefts and rights not unusual. Works through all tides, expect a crowd. Tides: Works through the tides. Size: Waist high to head and a half. Wind: E Swell: SW, W Bottom: Sand and Rock. Paddling: Not too bad unless big. Spot Rating: Some long, quality waves here, with both reefs and peaks on offer. Committed local crew.

Crowds and rocks mean better for those more experienced.

There is a small car park just a short walk from the southern end of the beach which fills quickly, plus a larger seasonal field parking further up beach road.

Works year round, but best September - October.

Crowd Factor: Gets busy, large local crew. Local Vibe: Chilled spot with competitive peaks. Follow etiquette and you'll be fine.

Can get very strong rips with an overhead swell and is not for beginners. Small car park and toilets at south end of beach.

Clean.

Rips and rocks.
