Constantine surf guide

Constantine is a popular surf spot located in a crescent-shaped bay with a stretch of golden sand. It's known for being one of the better breaks in the region, drawing surfers from around. The beach can get pretty busy, especially with the local crew who often know the area well. There's a small car park at the southern end that fills up fast, along with some larger seasonal parking a bit further up the beach road.

This spot really shines with its surf options. You'll find peaks in the middle of the bay, as well as lefts off the reef at the south end and rights off the point at the north end. It handles swell sizes from 4ft to 10ft (about 1.2m to 3m) and works at all tides, although low and mid are preferable. The optimal swell direction is from the SouthWest, but it can also work with NorthWest swells. Expect some solid beach breaks and uneven reef breaks, creating nice left and right waves. The surf is best for intermediate surfers, but be cautious, as it can get tricky with strong rips, especially in overhead swell.

For your gear, you can use shortboards, funboards, longboards, fish, and bodyboards here. The crowd factor can be significant due to its popularity, so it's important to respect local etiquette while out in the water. Despite the rocks and rips, Constantine generally offers a good variety of waves, making it worth the visit if youโ€™re in the area.
