Egg Island is a surf spot located off the coast of Eleuthera, known for its long and thin structure stretching under 2km (1.2mi) wide along 160km (100mi) of shoreline. The island features pink-white beaches and offers a mix of sheltered coves and some dramatic cliffs. To access Egg Island, you’ll need to hop on a boat from Spanish Wells, as it’s not directly reachable by land.
This spot works best with a good north swell, typically between 4ft (1.2m) and more, and benefits from the deep-water A-frame break located on the west side. The waves can break both left and right over dead coral, providing a decent ride for intermediate surfers. The trades generally blow offshore, keeping the conditions clean. For the best experience, aim for a southeast wind and enjoy the waves during low to high tide.
Egg Island isn’t heavily crowded, which can be a plus if you’re looking for some space while surfing. Just remember that it’s not a premier spot, so don’t expect epic conditions every time you go. If the swell is right, though, you might just find some fun waves to ride.
