The main coastal access point for the Royal National Park is Garie Beach, a swell magnet and a beautiful place to surf. It catches NE swells the best, with lefts hitting the northern headland and the sand dependant banks all the way down to Little Garie. You have to walk everywhere from the main carpark and North Era beach will also have a left off the point but less bodies in the water. Even further south is Burning Palms which is a shorter beach and easily overwhelmed by moderate swell. Peaky small summer swells and light winds are the go, but beware the rips that get horrendous.
Pay your day entrance fees or get an annual membership for all NSW National Parks. North Era has a walk in, tent only campground. Plenty of nudists and cruisers in the sand hills.
