Gronhogen is located near the southwest tip of Oland. This beach is a decent option for surfers when other spots around the Baltic are flat, particularly ideal for those seeking some nice waves. It's not a world-class location, but it can deliver some fun sessions, especially on the right days.
The spot tends to pick up SW swells well, making it best for SouthWest swell direction, but it also handles SouthEast swells. You can expect wave heights from about 1ft (0.3m) and up. The waves break over sand, providing beach breaks that can be fairly good for beginners. You’ll find both left and right waves here. For the best sessions, aim for low to mid or high tide and look for E winds to really get some clean conditions.
As a beginner-friendly spot, Gronhogen is a good place to practice your surfing skills. Just keep an eye on the local conditions and be ready to adjust your plans if it's not looking too promising.
