Surf: 45km NE of the tourist hub of Sanya, the small village of Houhai hosts a very consistent and powerful beachbreak, best on small to medium E and NE swells. Houhai is the winter hub for Sanya's booming surf scene with good wind and swell protection in the deep scalloped bay. Environment: Surfer friendly guesthouses and board rentals can be found here. Kitesurfing is popular and just offshore, Wuzhizou Island has some rights in big swell on the north coast.
