Isla Mujeres surf guide
Surf: General: The Yucatan is all but flat until the late-summer and autumn hurricanes show up in the Gulf of Mexico -- briefly spinning in okay surf that's quickly followed by raging, deadly weather. Isla Mujeres, nonetheless, is a quirky, quiet island situated about ten miles north of Cancun. Once there you will find a multitude of left and righthand reefbreaks that can perk up after a day or two of sustained onshore winds, or, as mentioned, during the brief hours prior to an approaching hurricane.
