Jialeshui surf guide

Surf: Jialeshui or Jia le Shui is one of the main spots in south Taiwan, thanks to its bankability of having something to ride in most swells. Lefthanders skirt a rocky reef in the shadow of the extensive headland and can peel lazily for some distance attracting longboarders and improvers when NE-E swell wraps just right. In the middle of the beach a rivermouth peak examines the shifting sandbar, with long ripable rights and hollower shorter lefts leading into scattered beachbreak. Jialeshui holds consistent surf up to well overhead, before being overpowered on a major typhoon swell. Environment: Handles the regular onshores quite well, but beware the strong rips at the rivermouth and the often-present jellyfish/sea lice. Plenty of friendly locals, longboarders and many beginners. The town has quality board rentals, places to eat and drink and several accommodation options in the area from camping to boutique hotel. Further beach and reef possibilities down the coast to Fengchuisha.
