Jurubida is a surf spot that requires a solid swell coming from the west (W) to really get going. Located at a rivermouth, it forms a decent righthand point break over a sandy bottom. It’s usually fun to surf, especially in the morning when the offshores are blowing before the wind switches to light northwest (NW). The view of the offshore islands adds some nice scenery while you catch some waves.
The wave at Jurubida works best with a swell height of around 2 feet (0.6 meters), but it can handle a range of conditions. For the best session, look for those waves coming from the west, but southwest (SW) and northwest (NW) swells can also work. It’s a right-breaking wave that’s best surfed during low to mid-tide. If you're hitting up this spot, it’s more suited for intermediate surfers due to the nature of the break and the wave direction.
When you're planning your surf session, pay attention to the wind. The preferable wind direction is northeast (NE), which helps keep the waves clean and enjoyable. Overall, Jurubida has potential but can be pretty average depending on the conditions. Just keep an eye on the swell and tide to get the best out of it!
