Laniakea is a surf spot located just north of the marina, and it's not as famous as some Hawaiian breaks, but it offers decent waves. It’s a popular spot for surfers from Lima, and you can often find it getting crowded. The vibe is relaxed, and it’s a nice place to spend a day catching some waves.
The waves at Laniakea are mostly right-handers breaking over boulders. The optimal swell direction here is from the Southwest, but it can handle swells coming from the South and Northwest as well. It works best with swell sizes starting at around 2 feet (0.6 meters) and can continue to deliver decent rides across low, mid, and high tides. This spot is beginner-friendly, so if you’re just starting out, it’s a great place to practice.
When it comes to wind, Laniakea benefits from NorthEast winds, which help create cleaner conditions. Just keep in mind that the consistency can be medium, so it might not always produce world-class waves. But on a good day, you can have fun out there!
