Las Lisas is a surf spot that’s a bit off the beaten path, located via the inland freeway, which means you might have to drive a little longer to get here. This spot is a bit more laid back than some of the busier beaches, which is nice if you're looking to escape the crowds. The surf here tends to be more consistent than average and you can usually find some decent waves to ride.
The waves at Las Lisas are pretty fun, especially when you're looking for something manageable. The optimal swell direction is from the south, and it can pick up swell sizes around 2ft (0.6m) easily. You'll mostly find lefts breaking over a sand bottom, especially at the rivermouth sandbar. The rips can be a bit tricky, so it’s best for intermediate surfers to navigate the conditions. Just keep an eye out for the wind, as a north-east breeze works best here, regardless of the tide, whether it’s low, mid, or high.
If you're planning a session, remember that while the waves can be good, it can also vary in quality, so stay flexible with your expectations. Also, because of the long drive, it’s not usually overly crowded, so you should have some space to enjoy your time in the water without feeling too rushed.
