Les Longchamps surf guide

Les Longchamps is a surfing spot that's pretty approachable for surfers of all levels. This beach is wide, providing plenty of space to spread out, and has some decent banks that can create waves that are not too shabby. While you might find some hollow waves from time to time, the majority are the typical onshore mushy types. It’s a friendly place where surfers can vibe with each other and enjoy the surf scene.

The surf here is quite versatile, handling swell sizes as small as 1ft (0.3m) quite well. The optimal swell direction is from the Northwest, but it can also pick up swells from the West. You can expect both left and right-breaking waves, catering to different preferences. Low, mid, and high tides all work here, but for the best conditions, beginners will find it manageable with the right wind, preferably coming from the South.

For those looking for a change of pace, Garde-Guerin is a nearby reef break worth checking out. Located next to the golf course, it can offer some push over the scattered rocks on a good Northwest swell, especially when the wind is coming from the South. Just keep in mind that it can be a bit capricious, so it might take some patience to find the sweet spot. If you're feeling adventurous, the Dame Jouanne ledge on the western headland presents a challenge for more experienced surfers, but it's definitely something to be wary of.
