Lucky Man's is the easternmost right pointbreak known for its requirement of a sizable south swell to really come alive. When conditions are right, surfers can enjoy long, fun performance walls that break over a mix of boulders and sand. It’s a bit remote, with a wild vibe, so although it’s not the most consistent spot, it can offer some good rides. There are also various other beach and reef breaks between Playitas and El Tamarindo, but exploring those often works best by boat.
This spot handles swell sizes around 5 feet (1.5 meters) and is best with a swell direction coming from the south, although southeast and southwest swells can work too. You’ll primarily find right-breaking waves that are suitable for intermediate surfers. The preferred wind direction is northwest, and you can catch waves during low, mid, or high tide. Just remember that the crowd levels here can be a bit on the lower side, making it less competitive at times but not always crowded.
While Lucky Man’s is a fun spot for those with some experience, it scores around a 3 for consistency and crowds, which means it might not always deliver perfect waves. It’s definitely a place to check out if you’re in the area and looking for a mix of adventure and surfing!
