Heading east along this south coast, Pakaia is another short, intense, lava reef left, resembling a mutant Pipeline that will be perfect or non-existent depending on swell direction. It’s an easy paddle out, like Hanga Nui, which has a small harbour to ease the usual entry/exit problems. The reef in the middle of a stunning bay has short lefts and longer rights that rarely close-out.
