Palm Beach Jetties surf guide

Palm Beach Jetties is a one-mile stretch located at the Palm Beach Public Beach, easily accessible from multiple routes. This spot has become a popular hangout for locals and visitors alike, thanks to a recent beach nourishment program that has changed the area. While the transformation has led to more breaks appearing, it has also been a bit disruptive to some of the old favorites. On busy weekends, the beach can feel pretty crowded, and it's not uncommon to find yourself vying for waves with both friendly locals and enthusiastic visitors.

This surf spot generally works on any ground or windswell and is more consistent than a lot of spots around South Florida. The preferred swell directions are from the Northeast and Southeast, and the waves can handle sizes from about 1.2 meters to 4.6 meters (4ft to 15ft). Youโ€™re most likely to find waist-high to overhead waves, especially when the tide is coming in or mid-high. You'll often see left and right barrels forming, particularly on north swells or during special conditions. The main break is between the flagpole and lifeguard tower, but the sand can shift, creating different peaks that can be fun to explore. Beginners can enjoy this spot, especially with the right swell and conditions, but be mindful that it can get pretty competitive.

Parking can be a hassle, especially on weekends when locals and tourists are all buzzing about. Metered spots fill up fast, and it's a good idea to pay attention to the time limits to avoid tickets. The overall vibe here is pretty chill, with local surfers keen to protect their waves, yet they're not aggressive unless someone crosses the line. Just be respectful, adhere to basic surf etiquette, and you should have a good time at Palm Beach Jetties.
