Overview
Palm Beach Jetties runs for about a mile of sand-bottom coastline, and it's really an inside wave, something of a reform that can't hold much size. When the banks line up it fires fast, spinning barrels that have earned a devoted local following. It ranks among the more consistent setups in South Florida, even if it stays only moderately consistent overall.
When It Works
The break draws swell from north through east-northeast to southeast (N-ENE-SE), with northeast swell the best match. North swells in the shoulder-high range spiral into good left barrels, rare souths spin excellent rights, and SE windswell builds fun ramps for the aerial crowd. It works from 0.6 m / 2 ft to 2.4 m / 8 ft, peeling both left and right over sand. The season runs through spring, autumn, and winter.
Wind and Tide
Look for west offshore wind. The wave can break through low, mid, and high tide, but a rising tide is the better call, and mid-to-high water on a groundswell or windswell is when those spinning barrels really show up.
Local Tips
Beginners can find their footing here, and the shifting peaks suit everything from shortboards and fish to funboards and longboards. Expect a very busy lineup when it works, with a neutral, generally user-friendly feel and enough peaks to go around, though it turns competitive once the crowd thickens.
Access
Getting in is easy. Restrooms, showers, and lifeguards are on hand, with metered parking, roadside spots, and a car park to choose from, though the meters can be costly.
