Palmwood Point is a surf spot located at Crystal Beach. It features a man-made jetty and reef which creates tricky, rocky right-hand waves. It's not the most beginner-friendly area due to its rocky bottom and the level of skill needed to handle the surf conditions.
The best time to surf here is when the swell comes from the SouthWest or West, with optimal conditions happening at around 3 feet (about 0.9 meters). The waves break over boulders and provide a reef wave type, making it important to be cautious. The preferred wind direction is from the NorthEast, which helps to shape the waves nicely. Since Palmwood Point can hold waves at various tide heights, it's surfable during low, mid, and high tides. However, this spot is definitely for expert surfers who are ready to take on the challenge.
Keep in mind that this spot can get tricky, so it's good to know what you’re doing before paddling out. Make sure you’re prepared for the rocky terrain as well, as it can affect your surfing experience.
