Overview
Perelle Bay - Left is a long, walling left that breaks around the Dom Hue islet over uneven reef. The take-off is ledgey, and once you're up the wall mellows out into a proper stretch of open face. It sits exposed, so it blows out easily. It can also get hectic at any size, and the reef here is rocky and rippy.
When It Works
Swell arriving from northwest is the best match, though the bay picks up anything from southwest through north to northeast. The reef works from 1.2 m / 4 ft to 3 m / 10 ft.
Wind and Tide
Look for south wind to hold it clean. Given how exposed the bay is, that offshore direction matters more here than at a sheltered break. Tide-wise, it comes to life around mid tide and high tide, and a rising tide is generally the better call.
Local Tips
This one suits intermediate surfers and up. The ledgey take-off, the rocks, and the rip all mean it's no place to be learning. Expect a busy lineup when it's on.
Access
Park by the slipway on the south side of the bay. Parking is free, roadside.
