Pero Rights is a surf spot located on the western tip of the island, known for its challenging conditions and unique setup. Access can be tricky, with a sketchy cliff dead-end section that can test the skills of any surfer. Winds from the north are optimal here, and the spot tends to come alive during the wet season, as it requires specific wind conditions for the best surf.
The waves at Pero Rights break primarily to the right and work best with swell sizes of around 8 feet (approximately 2.4 meters). Surfers will find that the best swell direction is from the west, although it can also handle south-west swells. The reef break can be uneven, which adds to the difficulty. Mid to high tides are preferable for getting the best of what this spot has to offer, making it a place where you want to be fully prepared before you paddle out. It’s definitely a spot for experts only, as the conditions can be tricky and unforgiving.
During the dry season, the surfing conditions around this area are generally better for lefts due to the E-SE winds blowing cross/offshore. While Pero Rights offers an exciting challenge, it can also be inconsistent, so it’s worth checking the forecast and being ready for a bit of a wait for those perfect waves.
