Pipes/Campgrounds surf guide
Surf: Several flat reefs along the length of the San Elijo State Beach campground. Some are square barrels, others are sectiony mushburgers. Low tides produce many boils and suck-up sections. Peaks like Traps, Turtles, Muffs, and 8560s canβt handle much size but offer fun, punchy rides during smaller, peaky swells. Best direction is from the W to SW with medium-low tide.
Environment: Gets super crowded. Access is by parking along the inland side of 101 and (dangerous) running across the road, or in the pay lot in the campground, which is now open year-round.
