Playa de las Mujeres surf guide

Playa de las Mujeres is a secluded beach located in the southern part of Gran Canaria. This spot can get pretty busy during the summer months as it attracts day-trippers with their vans, but it's generally quieter for the rest of the year. The clean waters and stunning views make it a nice place to chill out. One thing to note is that it’s known as a nudist beach, so be prepared for that if you’re visiting.

The surf here is best between mid tide and when the swell comes from the south or southeast. The beach break handles swells from around 2ft (0.6 meters) and can produce both left and right waves, making it suitable for beginners looking to practice their skills. The main feature of the waves is the backwash, which can give you a decent ramp to try out some airs and tricks if you’re feeling adventurous. Just keep in mind that it can get pretty inconsistent, so check the conditions before you go.

If you’re up for a little adventure, be sure to check out Montaña Arena, which is just a minute's walk away. It's worth the visit for its beautiful scenery. Just remember that during peak summer, the crowds can be a hassle, so plan your surf trips accordingly!
