Razo is a big, open beach break located in a beautiful setting. It's a solid spot to check out, especially when other nearby places aren’t working. The beach stretches on for a long way, making it feel pretty spacious even when there are a few surfers around. It's less crowded most of the time, with just a handful of beachgoers in summer. During the winter, you might find it practically deserted.
The surf here can be pretty decent, with waves working on all tides. The optimal swell direction is NorthWest, and it handles swell sizes up to about 3ft (1 meter). You can catch both left and right peeling waves breaking over sand, which is nice. The spot does pretty well with a SouthEast wind, but be wary of the NW winds that can totally mess up the waves. If you’re an expert, you'll find Razo challenging enough, but the waves can be fast and walled up, so be prepared.
In addition to the surf, Razo has good beach facilities, including a surf school if you want to sharpen your skills. There's low-profile free camping or sites in nearby Baldaio, so it's a good option for those looking to stay close to the waves without breaking the bank.
