Restaurants surf guide

Surf: Restaurants is the iconic wave that breaks off the resort island of Tavarua in full view of the diners and is the perfect back-up wave to big brother Cloudbreak. Always a bit smaller, but the utter predictability of the lip as it peels off means barrels and lip-smashing fun in equal measure. S to SW swell will wrap around the reef and S-SE winds will iron out the surface. Environment: It’s still an experts only wave and gets way too risky at low as the corrugated coral contradicts the uniformity of the wave. Other waves on the island include Kiddieland, ideal rollers for beginners on soft-tops, SUPs and anything else, breaking just about every day of the year, directly in line with the Tavarua bar. On small swells, Tavarua Rights are ripable, fun-park walls, before rising to beautiful blue cylinders when the wind dies and glassy water envelops the southern tip of the island. All accessed by walking/paddling over reef or getting dropped outside by the resort boat.
