Rocky Point (WA) surf guide

Rocky Point is located south of Perth in Western Australia, close to the small wave zone of Geographe Bay. It's part of the protected reefs around Cape Naturaliste. This spot is known for its laid-back vibe, making it popular with both surfers and bathers from Dunsborough. To get there, you need to walk a bit from the car park on Eagle Bay Rd, which helps keep the crowds down.

The surf at Rocky Point is mostly lefts that tend to work well with a west or south swell. The waves usually handle sizes up to about 3 feet (0.9 meters) but can be bigger on the right day. When the swell is pumping, the waves break over a mix of uneven reef and sand, providing a nice ride thatโ€™s great for those who have some experience. Beginners can also find their footing here, especially when the conditions are on the smaller side. For the best results, try to catch the waves with a southwesterly wind and aim to surf during low to mid or even high tide.

Apart from the great surf, Rocky Point is within reach of other spots like Bunkers Bay, which offer more beginner-friendly beach breaks and reefs. If you're looking to expand your session, spots like The Farm, Boneyards, and The Quarries all work under similar conditions and are worth checking out when you're in the area.
