Salaverry Harbour surf guide

Salaverry Harbour is a surf spot located between the jetties, known for its A-Frame peak that breaks and can catch some big waves. This area also has a channel on either side, which can be helpful for paddling out. The beachbreak extends up to another jetty at Delicious Beach, but finding good shape can be a bit of a challenge. To the south, there are some exposed beaches and headlands that lead down to Puerto Mori, where you can find sheltered lefts that can get a bit tricky.

The surf at Salaverry Harbour works best with a swell from the southwest, but it can handle swells coming from the south and west too. It can pick up waves around 3 feet (about 1 meter) and breaks over sand. You’ll catch both left and right waves here, depending on the conditions. For optimal surfing, the preferable wind comes from the northeast. It’s a versatile spot that works at low, mid, and high tides, making it suitable for a range of tides. While it’s a decent place for beginners when the waves are smaller, be aware that it can quickly get heavy once the size goes over head high.

This spot offers a decent environment for surfers looking to improve or just enjoy some fun waves. Just keep in mind that finding good-shape waves can be hit or miss, so it’s worth checking the conditions before heading out. If you're a beginner, the smaller days are definitely your best bet, but you'll want to watch the size as it picks up.
