San Marco, Ciminiera surf guide

San Marco, Ciminiera is a surf spot located on the east side of San Marco cape. The area is known for its exposed breaks that catch southern swells. It's a place where surfers can enjoy a mix of sand and rocky bottoms, although it doesn't always deliver world-class waves, it has its charm.

The waves at San Marco are mostly lefts, peaking at around 2ft (0.6 meters) to larger swells. The best conditions come from a southeast swell direction, and the spot is known to handle swells from the east and southwest as well. Surfers will find the wave breaks over uneven reef and sand, providing different options depending on the tide. For the best experience, aim for low, mid, or high tide, but be prepared for some strong currents. It's mostly suited for intermediate surfers, and with the currents in mind, it's good idea to bring a friend along. You’ll also find more reef breaks on the west side of the cape.

To get to San Marco, when you're in Sciacca, take a right toward Contrada Foggia at the crossroad and then follow the signs to San Marco. Just remember that the southeast wind is preferable for the best wave conditions, so try to time your surf sessions accordingly.
