Silver Dragon, Qiantang surf guide
Surf: You can't talk about surf in China without mentioning the world's biggest tidal bore of the Qiantang River in Hangzhou. The bore wave is generated every time the tide range teaches a noticeable coefficient. This happens over 120 days a year. On the biggest days, during the 8th month of the lunar calendar, the wave can reach 4m, produce oily barrels and break for over 90 minutes. The "Silver Dragon" as it is called, has taken countless lives in the past so access is strictly forbidden with heavy fines imposed on those caught entering the water, unless you are part of the yearly RedBull Shootout organized by Wabsono.
Environment: Intense industrial and residential pollution you would expect in a river surrounded by the 3 massive cities of Ningbo, Shanghai and Hangzhou.
