Squid Point is a surf spot located on the south coast of Chagwi-do, offering a decent option when the local beaches are maxed out. It features a left that wraps over a scruffy reef in front of the tetrapods. While it’s not the most famous spot, it's worth checking out, especially on days when other spots are flat or crowded.
The best swell direction for Squid Point is from the southwest, but it can also work with southeast swells. This spot can handle swell sizes up to about 3 feet (around 1 meter) and is known for its uneven reef breaks. Surfers will find left-hand waves here, which are more suitable for intermediate surfers looking to get some rides. The optimal wind direction is from the northeast, which helps shape the waves nicely. It’s worth noting that the spot can work at low, mid, or high tide, giving surfers some flexibility.
While Squid Point may not be a top-tier surf destination, it's a good backup when the conditions align just right. The surrounding cliffs can also pick up some windswell from the Yellow Sea, but that’s more for locals who are feeling particularly adventurous.
