The Bubble (Hierro Right) surf guide

The Bubble, also known as Hierro Right, is a surf spot located along the North Track. It's situated just east of Hierro Left and often attracts surfers looking for some fast, fun waves. This area can be a bit crowded since itโ€™s popular among local and visiting surfers alike. The unique atmosphere here is a mix of excitement and competition, so be ready to share the waves with others.

The waves at The Bubble can really deliver. This spot works best with swells from the North (up to 3.6 meters) to the Northwest and West, consistently producing waves that range from waist-high (1 meter) to double overhead (3.6 meters). You'll find solid rights that can be fast and hollow, which makes for an exhilarating ride, while the lefts are usually less intense. The break is on a lava reef, which adds power to the waves as they come in from deep water. The take-off zone tends to be small and can get pretty busy, so keep your head on a swivel. It handles a good variety of swell sizes, specifically from 1 to 3.6 meters, and it's suitable for intermediate to expert surfers. Low to mid tides are often the best times to catch the right waves here.

When heading to The Bubble, you can access it easily by driving along the North Track and parking right where you can see the breaks. The preferred wind directions are southeast to south-southwest, which helps shape those clean, rideable waves. Paddling out is manageable as there are channels available, but watch out for the sharp rocks, especially when the waves are heavy. The best season to surf here is from October to March, when conditions tend to be prime.
