Tullan Strand is a surf spot located in Donegal, stretching out northward from Roughey Cliff. This beach can catch waves with just a small bit of swell thanks to its unique positioning in Donegal Bay. On good days, waves can bounce off the cliff, creating a mix of surfable lines that stretch nearly the full two kilometers of beach. You'll find the best peaks right next to the cliff, which tends to get crowded, especially when conditions are just right. The main wave near the cliff offers fun lefts and short rights back into the cliff, while the beach has a variety of peaks for different skill levels.

The surf here typically works well with swells coming from the SW to NW, and it can handle sizes from around 4 to 8 feet (1.2 to 2.4 meters). The bottom is sandy, and you can expect to ride both left and right waves. Low to mid tides are generally preferred for the best conditions. You'll notice the wind from the East to East South East helps keep things clean. Despite being friendly for beginners, all kinds of surfers can find something to enjoy, but be aware that the rip currents can be strong. If you're new, it's a smarter move to head out from the beach rather than near the cliff.

Access to the spot is pretty straightforward. You can park in the lot and either scramble down the horse trail to the beach or take the cliff access by the Fairy Bridges. If the waves at the premier peak are too competitive, just walk down the beach a bit to find some mellow spots. The local vibe tends to be lively and fun, especially near the busy first peak.
