Watersplash surf guide

Watersplash is a long, flat stretch of sand that faces west, making it a decent spot for surfers looking to ride some waves. It’s known for picking up any passing swell from the west, northwest, and even west-southwest. While the banks can shift around a lot, they generally serve up a range of waves that can appeal to different skill levels. It's a spot that's particularly friendly for beginners during small summer swells, but be ready for some power in the winter months.

This place can handle swell sizes from about 2 feet (0.6 meters) to 8 feet (2.4 meters) and works well at low to mid tides, with conditions becoming even better at mid to high. You can find rippable beach breaks with both right and left waves, depending on the swell direction. The ideal wind comes from the east or east-southeast, which helps to clean up the waves. Although it might get a bit challenging when it gets big, paddling out is usually manageable when the swell is smaller.

Access to the spot is straightforward with parking right on the beachfront, giving you a great view of the sea. It can get busy during peak season, but you'll find it less crowded in the winter. The local vibe is pretty relaxed in summer, but expect more competition among surfers when the serious swells roll in. Keep an eye out for rips, as they can be a nuisance, particularly when conditions get rough.
