More about Winthrop Jetty surfspot

A large jetty at the southern end of Winthrop Beach is the closest surf spot to the center of Boston. From mid to high tide, an E to NE swell with any type of W wind should see predominantly righthanders breaking close to the jetty over the cobblestone bottom. Low tide causes it to break on outside shoals, which knocks down the size of the reforms considerably.

Only a medium consistency spot, so it rarely gets crowded. “Kinda polluted” is a bit of an understatement, especially after rain, but things have improved in Boston Harbor since they decommissioned the oldest working sewage plant in the world and replaced it with a new secondary-treatment works.
