Anglesey surf guide

Anglesey is a popular surf spot located in North Wales, known for its various beaches including Rhosneigr, Treaddur, Cable Bay, and Aberffraw. This area can provide some decent surf when the conditions align, especially with a big southwest swell rolling in. Keep in mind, though, that it can be hit or miss, so it’s good to check the forecast before heading out.

The waves here are mainly beach breaks that can handle sizes starting at about 1ft (0.3 meters). The optimal swell direction is Southwest, but it can also pick up from the Northwest. You’ll find both left and right waves, making it suitable for beginners. The best time to surf is during low to mid tide, with NorthEast winds being preferred. Overall, the surf here is usually mellow, so it’s a nice spot for less experienced surfers to get out and practice.

Access to the beaches varies; some have beachside parking, while others require a bit of a hike over the dunes. Always check local conditions and be prepared for some variation in the surf experience depending on the day. Enjoy the vibes and have fun out there!
