Asilah is located on the east coast of Morocco, also known as the Pirate Coast. This surf spot attracts surfers looking for a mix of beach breaks and point breaks. It's particularly popular among those from Dubai, as it offers a laid-back atmosphere and reliable waves during the summer months. The area can get quite windy, which is something to keep in mind while planning your session.
The waves here can be pretty fun for intermediate surfers. The best swell direction is from the south, and the spot can handle swell sizes around 2ft (approximately 0.6 meters). You’ll find a nice right point break at Joe’s Point, which works best when the swells are bigger and wrap around the rocks. The beach also has beach breaks and a sheltered right break at the rivermouth. It's worth noting that the preferred wind direction is from the west, and you can surf here at various tide heights, whether low, mid, or high.
When you're out there, be ready for some strong rips that can pull parallel to the beach heading north. There’s plenty of space to camp on the beach if you want to make a trip of it, allowing you to soak in the mellow vibes and surf all day.
