Overview
Baie des Carpes is a punchy reef peak that favours lefts, sitting across a deep channel from the fast lefts of Gauche de Loic out in front of the hotel and golf course. The wave breaks over uneven reef and tends to draw a lighter crowd than the peaks nearby. Keep an eye out for urchins, rocks, and pollution coming off the fishing village and the rivermouth.
When It Works
Swell reaches the peak from anywhere between southwest and north (SW-N), with northwest (NW) lining it up best. It works from 0.9 m / 3 ft to 4.6 m / 15 ft, a wide window with plenty of room on either side of a solid day. Both lefts and rights peel off the reef, and the spot stays moderately consistent.
Wind and Tide
Look for south (S) offshore wind to clean up the face. The reef can work through low, mid, and high tide, with a rising tide generally the better call.

This is an intermediate-friendly wave, and you can expect a moderately busy lineup when it's on.
