Baie Du Mesle is a remote surf spot located off the coast, known for its long left reef that delivers decent waves. This spot is only accessible by boat, adding to its charm and seclusion. It was discovered by Russell and Vadim Berhmann, and it’s officially recognized as the eastern reef of Petit Baie Du Mesle. The surrounding environment features picturesque small fishing villages where boats can be beached, making the walk to the surf even more enjoyable.
The surf at Baie Du Mesle works best with a southeast swell, but you can also catch waves from the east and south. The wave size is manageable, handling conditions from 2 feet (approximately 0.6 meters) up to a good size. The reef breaks over live coral, and the left waves can deliver hollow sections as well as walling faces in clear blue water. For the best experience, aim for mid to high tides, and a north wind will help make the conditions more favorable. It's a good spot for expert surfers who are looking for a challenge.
Keep in mind that the reef is dense with urchins, so it’s easier to access during high tide or by boat. After a session, you can find some shade under apricot and banana trees for a quick break. The remote setting and the need for a boat ride adds a sense of adventure to the whole experience.
