Direita do Passe is a surf spot located near the opening to a lagoon, making it a unique place to catch some waves. It's about a 40-minute walk from the car park in Cubres, so a little trek is involved, but it's generally worth it. This spot is known for its righthander that breaks just right in front of the lagoon entrance, providing surfers with a decent option in the area.
This wave handles swells mostly from the Northeast, with the ideal swell size around 2ft (0.6m) but it can also handle up to larger sizes. When the swell's right, it can offer nice peeling waves that are fun to ride, especially since it tends to be a predictable, medium pace peeler. The wave breaks over boulders, which gives it character, but be mindful of potential dangers. The inside section tends to be smaller and easier, making it a suitable spot for beginners as well.
For the best surfing experience, the preferred wind direction is from the Southwest, and it works well across low, mid, and high tide. Even though this isnβt a top-notch spot, it can definitely serve up some enjoyable sessions, especially when conditions align. Keep an eye on the swell and wind, and you might just find yourself having a good time at Direita do Passe.
